If you are experiencing trouble with your garbage disposal there are a couple of tricks that you can first try. The first step is to make sure you have power to the outlet, some of the outlets for garbage disposals have gfi’s that may need to be reset. There is also a red reset button located on most garbage disposals near the bottom of the unit. One last think to try may require a special tool such as a garbage disposal wrench or even an allen wrench could work. There is a nut that is located on the bottom of the garbage disposal that will allow you to rotate the blade for the unit. If your unit seems to be jammed, this is the best way to free the unit without putting yourself in danger.
If this doesn’t fix the problem you may need to replace your garbage disposal. We install top of the line garbage disposals that are built to last. We don’t want to be called back out on a product that we installed so we install the best garbage disposals on the market.
One of the things we usually run into when replacing a garbage disposal especially n many older homes, is an improper venting of the kitchen sink. Fortunately this is an easy fix that does not require any alterations of the pipes that run behind the walls or cabinets. By adding an Air Admittance Valve we can improve the performance of an improperly vented kitchen sink.
