Installing a pedestal sink is quickly becoming one of the most popular upgrades when remodeling a bathroom. Most of the time in you are converting a standard vanity style sink over to a pedestal sink you will need to change the plumbing to accomodate the new sink.
When our plumbers install a pedestal sink we will always try to use chrome finished drain lines and supply lines. This is especially important for pedestal sinks because the drain and supply lines are exposed. It’s also important that the location of the lines be exactly where you need them to be. We tend to sit our supply lines a little bit lower than with a standard vanity style sink.
Installing a wall mount sink can provide more space to those who may have limited mobility. Once used primarily in commercial applications, the wall mount sink has made it’s way into the residential mainstream. Supported only by the wall, it can require removing a section of the drywall in order to create proper support or backing.
You should also consider the plumbing specifications of any wall mount sink that you should pick out. Not all sinks are going to work with all drains. If the drain does not sit high enough than it can typically be replaced but this will require removing more portions of drywall.
