How much does a plumber charge per hour
Posted on Jan.27, 2012 by Chase Thompson

There is a big difference between hours billed vs hours worked. With plumbing there is a lot of time required for checking inventory, scheduling jobs, doing bids, invoices, and billing. As you do smaller jobs you should account more time for running the business. It is common for a plumber to charge $100 per hour for basic residential plumbing service. If your problem requires only a short amount of time than a minimum trip charge is put into place to account for fuel, scheduling, and inventories.

On some of our other plumbing projects like water heaters and sump pumps we do flat rate pricing which means we give you a fixed price to complete the project instead of an hourly rate. On drain cleaning calls we charge $125 for the first hour, most drain cleaning jobs are completed in under 30 minutes.
